A random assortment of things from my weekend:
I finally managed to snap a pic of the house with TWO clownshoes, one apparently an M (the blue one) . This is the house that previously had a bmw 318-powered VW Vanagon and two VW Foxes. Now an Outback and these two gems.
The truck is still not put away because roads are too salty to drive it to its winter garage . I’m considering putting a plow on it (just for our own driveway) and I’ve been getting good use out of it. Pulling down some tricky trees near the house, and moving the last of our firewood after the wheelbarrow broke. Meanwhile, it might as well be festive (I do have some solar lights for it, if I get motivated enough).
Put new snow tires / wheels on the Mini last week. It should be a capable little winter commuter . Road noise not bad with these Michelin x-ice xi3 (I think that’s right). I like the wheels too - and more importantly, my wife does.
Then, totally OT I cut a worthless white pine from our sledding hill and the bottom was hollow, rotten from the inside. So naturally:
And last - and probably least-car-related even including the burning log - a cool track we saw in the woods. Bobcat maybe? Not sure.
for scale:
and pattern:
The pattern looks cat-like to me; too small for a mountain lion but waaaay to big for a housecat. Too big for anything like a raccoon or porcupine. 6-year-old human tracks on the right. He was fascinated and followed these tracks for 20 minutes all through the woods.
All in all, a pretty nice weekend for mid-December. Except it’s November.

Star for truck wreath. Looks like
bobcat tracks
to me. My check engine light came on this weekend and that’s about it. Yay service time...

To tell for sure, you’d have to see the shape of the heal pad. Coyotes and Bobcats have very similar gates and prints, but the heal pads are different.

According to the internet Bobcat prints are about 1.5"x1.375" I think you’re right. Wish I had bobcats.

I had a case of just saying F it on getting an A in a class. (Disclaimer
: I am on my 4th and 5th undergrad degrees as the GIBill pays me for another year)
The class is on Linux programming and updating. I am ok at it, but nothing special. I use a manual to do most of it as I don’t have it to memory yet.
The class was fun as I’d do 4-5 quizzes a week and a few Online labs with equipment such as switches and routers.
Then this week we were told to knock out Ch7 and Ch8 together. There were 43 quizzes and 12 labs(!)
. You have to get an 80 on each quiz which average around 15 questions a quiz. Do the math on this...
Yeah...I did like half of them and none of the labs. Got a 90 on both Chapter tests and said F it. So my homework score will go down. I don’t care.

We have heard coyotes in the woods near the house, so that’s a good possibi lity too.

I think they are bigger than 1.5" but they weren’t fresh, either...

It just looked like one of the pics had claw marks, which would rule out a bobcat.

If you really wan tto see semething impressive, get a few feet of pipe, a ha ir dryer and turn that stump into a blast furnace. I guess you could substitute a leafblower.

Oh man, we have a backpack leaf blower that would create havoc... I suspect it would be exciting even at idle!
Hmm
